CoreFitness and the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center together with Legacy of Hope Join Forces for a Dual-purpose, 24-hour Stair Climb Event at the Philadelphia Art Museum Steps

The groups’ goal is to raise $50,000 while setting an official World Record, moderated by Guinness

August 17, 2018

Philadelphia, PA – CoreFitness and Legacy of Hope have partnered together to create PHL24, a 24-hour stair-climbing fundraiser, that will kick off at 3 PM on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The goal is to raise $50,000 while setting an official Guinness World Record for longest continuous stair climb on the museum steps.

Working in conjunction with PHL24’s title sponsor, The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, the funds raised through sponsorship, participant registration and donations will be equally divided: $25,000 will support local Philadelphia families who are experiencing extreme financial hardship due to a cancer diagnosis, and $25,000 will fund top junior investigators in cancer research at all four major cancer centers in Philadelphia as chosen by a multi-hospital Scientific Review Board.

Along with uninterrupted stair climbing, PHL24 will feature 24 hours of nonstop entertainment including DJs, music, snacks, giveaways, and themed climbing hours, but will keep the cancer eradication mission at the forefront. Donated items, including autographed Philadelphia sports memorabilia, will be available for bidding through an online silent auction; all proceeds will go towards the $50,000 goal. Additionally, a candlelight vigil will be held on Thursday evening at 8 PM; families and survivors, are encouraged to attend.

Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available. The event will conclude on Friday, September 21st at 3:00pm.

Legacy of Hope exists because fighting cancer should not cost a family their home or cause a family to go hungry, and no promising cancer research should go unfunded. Working with all four cancer centers in Philadelphia, Legacy of Hope is accelerating the progress in cancer research, by breaking down communication barriers between cancer centers. The impact of every donation made will be maximized by engaging entire communities and funding only the most promising research.
